Hi I’m trying to get a contact form to send mail, but the server doesn’t use the mail in Plesk it uses Smartermail. How do I configure SMTP?
Hey there,
Unfortunately, this is not part of the Sitejet Support. Mail settings are handled in Plesk.
Here’s how you can configure SMTP settings on your Plesk server:
1. Configuring Server-Wide Mail Settings in Plesk:
To set up SMTP settings for your entire Plesk server:
- Access Plesk Panel:
- Log in to your Plesk control panel.
- Navigate to Mail Server Settings:
- Go to Tools & Settings > Mail Server Settings.
- Adjust General Settings:
- Ensure the mail server is enabled.
- Set the Maximum message size if needed.
- Enable the SMTP service on port 587 to allow message submission.
For detailed instructions, refer to Plesk’s official documentation:
Hope this helps. If you still face issues, I would suggest you post it in the Plesk Community. But I think it would also be helpful to post a solution here in case another user has the same issue.
When you have configured your mails correctly, please add a sender and a recipient address to the contact form to make sure it works correctly.
I dont use plesk mail I use smartermail. I have setup SMTP in plesk to use customer email.
Still not working
is there a way to turn debuggin on in sitejet?
If you tested the contact and it is working then the issue might still be with the mail setup. Please test the contact form first according to this post: cPanel | Most common contact form issues
If the form is working with our settings then you need to contact your provider for further assistance. But please keep us updated on this.
@Andre I have to pickup this topic here.
Since the emails from our customer are not on our server, but on their Office365, I cannot enable and set a noreply@customers-domain.at in Plesk, where I then maybe could set smtp settings.
This means I have no chance to get this Mails sent correctly, because I have no way to set the smtp settings?
best regards
Since this seems to be an issue with Plesk, have you contacted them? Plesk is responsible for any mail topics in your case. That is a completely different periphery. Maybe contact the support or check with their community?
Since I am interested in a positive outcome, keep me updated here, please ![]()
Have you contacted there support?
Why and for what?
@Andre Thanks for the feedback. Because our customer has his emails hosted on another provider, plesk won’t be able to help out either, I guess.
I came to the solution to create a custom php script, which uses php-mailer to send the mails. For that too work, I removed the mailto and mailfrom settings in the sitejet formsettings and added the script as a hook.
Nice work in this case, @Manuel_Denk !
