I’ve spent the entire day carefully perfecting my website. Everything looked exactly how I wanted it in the builder – the layout, containers, and text were all correct and active.
However, as soon as I clicked “Publish”, the live site appeared completely broken:
The layout is missing
Text is scattered everywhere, with no containers
The original template (santos) seems to have disappeared
Media elements are floating randomly without structure
Even worse, when I return to the builder, it now shows the same jumbled-up version — as if the publish action somehow corrupted both the live and editing versions.
I have no idea what went wrong, but I really don’t want to start from scratch after spending so much time on this. This is extremely stressful and disappointing.
Please let me know if this is a known glitch or if there’s any way to restore a working version of my site. Previous versions l restore don’t work either. I would really appreciate urgent help.
Further to this, it won’t let me save my work and shows an error dialogue which l have attached an image of. It also shows an error box saying unable to load backups/restore them.
I don’t have a clue what’s happening, the product was fine and great to start with, but now it’s an impossible nightmare to do anything on this software.
Hi @NewSiteJet, and welcome to the community!
I’m really sorry you’re going through this. It’s frustrating enough building a site—having it break after publishing is a nightmare, especially when you’ve done everything right in the editor.
You’ve described things clearly, and the screenshots help a lot. While I’m not part of support, just another user, here are a few thoughts that might help or at least explain what’s going on:
A Few Things You Could Try or Know:
The error message (cascade persist operations) suggests something went wrong at the database level during saving. So even though Sitejet usually auto-saves every 10 minutes, if that save process failed in the background, your changes might not have actually been stored on the server.
Sometimes the builder still “looks fine” temporarily because it’s showing cached data from your session — but when you publish or reload, it has to pull from the saved version, which might be incomplete or corrupted.
If restoring backups gives you errors too, it could mean the issue lies with a module or component (maybe a custom block or dynamic element) that got misconfigured or disconnected.
Suggestions:
Try opening your project in a different browser or in incognito mode, just in case it’s a local cache issue.
If possible, duplicate the project to see if it loads more cleanly in a fresh instance.
And definitely share your builder number (which you did — 1932321) with Sitejet support directly. This seems like something they’ll need to fix from their end.
You’re definitely not alone here — we’ve seen a few hiccups like this in the community. Don’t give up! Hopefully Sitejet can revert your project or repair the save data behind the scenes.
Keep us posted if anything changes — rooting for you!
Thank you Andre, this is my very first time using SiteJet and the support page for that matter too. I presumed the email ticket support requests were different from this forum and this was a community help page. I didn’t realise the staff operated this too. My apologies.
Thank you so @ Kalisperakichris much for your kindness and support.
I’ve tried opening the project in a different browser and cleared the cache, but unfortunately the same problem persists. Sitejet’s tech support is currently looking into it and trying to fix some errors on the CSS side. I don’t have a working copy on my end yet, but they’re doing their best, and their response time has been really fast, which I appreciate.
Fingers crossed everything can be restored soon so I can get back to building. Thanks again for taking the time to help — I’ll keep you posted!
