Site builder is so slow, I can't use it anymore

Had this on a few templates, where on loading the editor it’ ok for a minute before getting progressively slower to the point of being unusable.

Currently using the Careers template but prevalent on others too.

Tried 2 Macs, different browsers, no other tabs, all slow straight off a fresh template install.

I had this 3 years ago, and nothing has changed. Has anyone found a fix?

Hi Luke :man_raising_hand:

I’ve been using Sitejet (via cPanel) for two years. In the past, I’ve also encountered some slow and unresponsive issues, but I’ve learned why they happen and how to deal with them:

  1. Sitejet will never be as fast and responsive as an offline editor, because the changes we make needs to go through a number of servers (your WiFi, host, cPanel, Sitejet etc.), and those servers (as well as your browser) needs to keep their internet connectivity stable and fast, which is not always the case.
  2. cPanel sometimes has a timeout after 60mins, which will cause the builder to become unresponsive.
  3. Making too many changes inside the builder before saving exacerbates this problem, for example: if I change an element’s font size/padding/visibility etc. and then change it again, and back again and again within seconds, I am not giving the system cache enough time to revert my changes, and the display of my changes then becomes unresponsive.

Good practice: I have learnt to press the save button inside the builder more often, and also use the refresh button (not browser refresh), after each save. After working for more than 3 hours inside the builder, it would be beneficial to clear the browser cache or log off and log on again. Also, I try to do most of my custom code changes in my text editor and spend less time in the builder.

I hope this helps? :man_shrugging:
