Hi, i need to create a website for client but whenever someone go to for ex. www.example.com it should redirect to www.example.com/abc and no one will ever see www.example.com … how to do that?
Hey @mughal - great to read from you.
Currently, it is not possible to allow redirects between different domain levels.
We allow only redirects between paths within domains and subdomains like:
- subdomain.example.com/abc → subdomain.example.com/123
- subdomain.example.com/abc → example.com/123
- example.com/abc → example.com/123
However, I am happy to move this over to the feature request section for everybody to vote on this feature, if you like.
Hi @Andre it’s not different domain, i must setup website on subdomain for ex. subdomain.example.com/abc actually it’s required from my client, so what if i ll setup subdomain and create a page “abc” with “/” and whenever anyone visit subdomain.example.com it should redirect to subdomain.example.com/abc isn’t it possible?
Hey @mughal - it should be possible to set a redirect from subdomain.example.com to subdomain.example.com/abc
You could actually try it out with an already published website as a test.
@Andre please check DM
Hey @mughal - it is not possible to publish a website “only” on the subdomain. That means, in the domain manager you need and must have the main domain www.example.com set up. That does not mean, that the main domain needs to be transferred to us or needs to have our content.
When the main domain is connected in the domain manager, you are able to set up the subdomain and respectively the redirect.
For more about setting up the subdomain like your case, please see here:
Let me know if that helps!
@Andre but the main domain is already connected to google cloud with a website can not change this, what’s the other way?
@mughal - please read the article about this.
“Just” the connection has to be made in the domain manager, so Sitejet knows what the subpages etc. shall be named like. Unless you also change the DNS settings nobody will know that you have the domain written down in our domain manager
In that help article there is a specific case mentioned where you just want to have a subdomain in Sitejet.
@Andre looks like this will solve my issue, will try this way and if get stuck will open support ticket … thanks for the help
Perfect!
