Advice on hosting with Sitejet Builder

Well.

After a short time away from editing I decided that I needed a new website for a different project. I’ve been using ukhost4U for a long time. My needs are very basic and they provide free, basic hosting with domain name registration. Great!

Only now they have removed Sitejet for free hosting (via cpanel). It’s now a payed for option and too rich for me. I only need a contact/leaflet style website. Very basic.

I can’t complain about this. Their level of support has always been fantastic and obviously they need commercial success. But it looks like I may have to return to Wordpress for future endeavours and I’m not looking forward to it. After all the time buying into Sitejet Builder. Tried Sitepad and became very frustrated almost instantly. No comparison.

So any advice on another provider that gives access to Sitejet Builder in a similar way to the way ukhost4U used to?

Hi Andrew :waving_hand:

Totally get where you’re coming from — I’ve been in the same boat recently.
I also just need a simple, reliable way to keep using Sitejet Builder without paying too much for overkill features.

I’m currently hosting my Sitejet-built website with Domain Market, and it’s been working well for me so far. It’s one of the few places I found that still gives access to Sitejet Builder (similar to how ukhost4U used to do it). Might be worth checking out if you’re after a lightweight setup.

Let me know if you’d like more details on how the setup works — happy to share what I know!

Hey Andrew,

Really sorry about what you experienced. Unfortunately, we do not have any saying in this and can not provide you with a list of hoster that offer Sitejet.

Have you tried an extensive search on Google and Co. maybe?

Depending on what you really need, maybe even Sitejet Studio could be an option for you? If you just want to provide the basics, Sitejet Studio works best.

Let me know if that could be something you like to explore.

Hi Andrew,
I use Knownhost and access Sitejet Builder through their cPanel.

Thanks you for all the kind advice. I’ll keep trawling Gobble  in hope. ukhost4U has been, and still is a fantastic host. Their support is fast and professional and to have any kind of free hosting is to be commended. But Sitejet is now only offered on paid hosting starting at £100 pa. Bit too pricey for my needs, sadly.

I’m not complaining about their new version of free hosting either (with domain registration). But a word of warning for the unskilled dabbler, like myself. I’ve been digging into Softaculous Wordpress (as supplied) and have been through quite a few bloated templates. It’s been painful. A really unintuitive, convoluted user experience. Also, and I didn’t realise this either, messing around too much like this soon maxes out the, now restrictive, 250MB bandwidth limit. I’ve not even had a visitor and I’ve been clamped. Didn’t realise that getting to grips with the product constituted as traffic.

It’s another learning curve.

Certainly not as slick as Sitejet Builder.

I’ll persevere a little longer but maybe this choked off way of doing things may actually encourage people not to do as I have done and just go for the paid versions out there.

Namecheap still has it on their Cpanel.

You might want to check out GoogieHost. It offers free hosting with cPanel access, so it could be a good alternative for a simple contact or leaflet-style website like yours. It’s definitely a solid option if you’re looking for something budget-friendly and easy to get started with.
