Hey Claudie,
could you please give us the six-digit Website ID? I need to check your website and see for myself what is happening there.
The Website ID is the number you see in the URL, when you are in the Builder.
I am having the same issue. Unfortunately, I do not understand the other posts that say “I “fixed” this Enabling multilanguages, setting and second language, save, deleted it and save again.”
When I think that I have followed these instructions by enabling multilanguages, choosing “French” for a second language, I try to save and I get this error:
The website is missing a start page (URL: “/”) for language English. Please change the URL of one of your pages to ”/”.
Why do I have to change the URL of my page to “/”?
My Website ID is 989383. I thought Sitejet Builder was supposed to be easy peasy, but I have found it difficult to get any kind of support since I use this through cPanel. When I contact them they say that is a Sitejet issue, contact them. When I send my request in to Sitejet, they tell me it is a cPanel issue.
My website is so basic that I don’t know why it has to be so tough to get help or an answer.
I’m so sorry to hear this Mona but I understand your frustration. Keep in mind that the brains in this operation (Andre, Martin, etc) are working extremely hard to keep Sitejet running smoothly and securely, and we all need to be patient with them
It took me 3 months to learn Sitejet in cPanel (and the learning never stops), but that is unfortunately how life works, especially for non-coders like myself.
Do you know about all the help articles?
Sitejet Help
Using Sitejet is just like a new phone - just keep on fiddling until you understand how it all works.
Ask here, or Google for things related to coding if you get stuck.
I found a lot of helpful articles on w3schools.com
Good luck, and remember to have fun while designing!
Oh please don’t get me wrong, the frustration is not with Andre or anyone, just the lack of being able to find videos on things that I don’t even know the lingo too…lol
If I don’t know the names of elements I need, it’s hard to search to find instructions.
Thank you!!
Hey Mona,
I am really happy to help and like to split my answer into two sections on this matter.
First, I do understand that there might be difficulties in some handling and understanding the platform and some issues. And I do love to get feedback to see how we can improve the usability. Like for this current case I really need to dig into the language topic again and try to adjust the help articles to make this more easy to understand and execute.
I am unsure about the support issue. But what might help is to understand the setup of Sitejet within the Webpros cosmos, that includes cPanel.
We here are the Sitejet Website Builder Community and my (our) support is focused a) on the Sitejet Studio users - the all-in-one solution you find under www.sitejet.io. In addition to that, we can, want and will support every Sitejet user with cPanel and Plesk and all other integrations. But, our support is strictly limited to the Website Builder part on these integration. So, in some cases, a user comes to us with an issue, that is actually on the server side (for example). Then, we have to guide them over to their hoster or cPanel directly.
Hope this clarifies, what you might have experienced. So, in the future, we hope that more cPanel Sitejet user are coming over here as well to assist with Sitejet-“related” situations on the server side. But, until now, we get a pretty good idea of some situations where even we can assist. Like the minor issues with the contact forms, for example.
Anyway, any issue you have within the builder, you just post it here or send us a mail
(oh, but please don’t send private messages here, because we usually do not track them frequently.)
Let me give you a solution for the issue in Sitejet with a separate post.
So, let’s explain the basics here:
When you build a website with Sitejet - no matter if it is multilanguage, with subpages, or single-language or single-page - you need to have a /
site. This is what you might know as a home
or /home
.
When you use Sitejet Studio, you can try different templates and build a website from scratch and the first page will always be the one “called” HOME
but it actually is /
You can even rename it to Cool page because it is cool to have a cool page
but it should have /
.
That is what the error says. And this is the situation on your website:
When I added the /
the error goes away.
Now, you do not have the luxury like in Sitejet Studio to just add 100 pages with all templates, fool around and just try things out or mimic designs… but you could actually just try to log in with the mail you have set for this community and you have a free trial of Sitejet Studio which stays free until you decide to buy or publish something. Maybe that is the way for you to test and fool around with Sitejet. And when you feel comfy enough, you build the site on cPanel and publish that.
So… your issue is actually not related to the language. But… yes, there is always a but… when you have multilanguage, the forementioned practice is still the same. But when the site is live, your URL gets added the language prefix when its live Simple as that.
Best practice is: Start with one language and set the basic framework and your subpages first. Then, you can add the second language and just translate the pages.
Let me know if that helps?
Oh, and since you build your shop and content under /home
… you might want to remove my /
and rename your side to /
