I have a multilanguage setup with pages in English (Default) and German.
As I understand a tool for multilanguage websites, the structure of the pages should remain the same, with only the texts translated.
However, I have the problem that a change in the size of an image in the English version is not applied to the German version, so I have to adjust the image size in the german version separately.
Since I plan to translate the website into additional languages and will certainly make further changes in the future, it would be a huge, repeated effort to manually apply every structural change to all languages. Is there a setting or flag I may have overlooked that would allow me to keep the structure of the pages consistent across all languages, with only the texts being different?
Thanks for your question. Well, actually the multilanguage with us is that with each language you have the possibility to change the structure and adapt it to your needs… so basically, that means changes in one language do not apply to another language.
As @Eike_Reinel, I need to maintain a bilingual site as this is one of our company asset.
I would like to set up my pages in English, then duplicate the page and translate it to be the French page.
But if I duplicate my English “start” page, the new page is still in the “English” section. How do I move a page from one language to another one?
I thought I could play with the URL slug, but the /en/ or /fr/ doesn’t appear in the page settings…
hm, that’s not good… This means a lot of repetitive work (n times) whenever I change something in my layout or structure of the website.
As I user, I would recommend giving the user the posiibility to choose, whether pages in other languages should be duplicated once and must be updated manually or should be “in sync” when structure changes in other languages, only having translated text.
Currently this missing feature is a blocking point for me to use Sitejet, when I translate my website to several more languages in the future…
So I erase all the second language pages and switch back the website to only English. I save and publish (at least, the messed-up French page will not be available again.
Then I recreated a multilingual website.
Great, the new pages are the duplicate of my English website… with nothing translated automatically. But ok, let’s work on that.
I started translating the home page banner to French. I saved and reload… and the new French pages keep reference on the English website! So banner and contact form are in English…
@Andre , we need help… or at least a process that works!
