Hey @Shuss3! Welcome to our community,
This message usually appears when the root URL “/” is already taken by another page.
In Sitejet, every website must have exactly one homepage assigned to “/”.
What to check:
Go to Pages → look for the page that already has the URL “/” (the current homepage).
Either:
Rename your new page’s URL to something else (e.g., /about, /home-2)
OR set your new page as the Homepage, which will automatically assign it the “/” URL.
Save again — the error should disappear.
This happens often when duplicating pages or when the homepage was created automatically.
This is not true. Usually it happens, when people rename the slug and forget to add a /.
Hey @Shuss3 - please let me know your Website ID. I am happy to check this for you ![]()
Hi @Andre it has happened to me several times!
But the solution is still there!!!
Yes, exactly — that’s what I’m referring to as well.
When someone renames a page and the slug loses the leading “/”, Sitejet reads it as a duplicate of the root URL and throws this error.
So the fix is simply checking the slug structure and restoring the correct “/”.
Happens quite often in real projects.
Thanks for jumping in, Andre!
It never happened to me before. So I guess its a personal experience, that you should mark as this ![]()
Totally fair — Sitejet might behaves slightly differently depending on how pages were created or duplicated.
In my case, I’ve seen this specific error appear several times when editing slugs, so I shared it as an additional scenario that might help others who run into it.
Always good to have multiple angles documented for future users. ![]()
Surely.
But I like to point this out again: This is a personal experience. If this were a bug or as you said “happens often”, we would have gotten more than 2 reports in 7 months about this error. Those two reports though did not rule out an issue on our side nor a user error.
However, your inital post is phrased as this is happening in general ![]()
The basic procedure when duplicating pages or creating them is quite clear and the default behavior is, that this works as intended.
If someone experiences issues, then I like to take a look and see why this happened. This helps figuring out potential bugs, potential issues in the process or just a user error. Both help improve the experience.
Hi Everybody
I’ve exyperienced it several times, too. I will have a specific look at the slug ending with ”/” next time and might report it to you.
Great. Please let me know what you did before exactly so I can try to reproduce this ![]()
