I find it very long-winded and complicated to add or edit blog posts.
Also the entire visual appearance (font size, fields etc) looks small and very confusing,
Especially non-techie clients of mine struggle all the time - and myself sometimes as well (to be honest).
I would really appreciate if this could be improved.

thank you for sharing your suggestions. I agree with you, the collection could be more user-friendly and this is the reason why we will improve the collection feature this year. It is on our roadmap and we will start with the improvement process soon.

I personally like the way Wix offers blog features. Just in case you are interested in inspiration for the new blog look & feel 
A comment and like feature would be nice too…Please no 3rd party solution

Yes, theirs is so easy to use that I had my high school students making bogs in class. Just drop a blog in, ad posts, set categories, and pretty simple.
I also found the web site builder offered by INmotion hosting to be super simple to do blogs in. This one feature has held me back from jumping into Site Jet yet as my main tool.
