Cloudflare CNAME mystery

Hello

Something is up with my DNS and I do not know how to fix it.

Here is my problem:

  1. My domain is registered and hosted with Cloudflare. it is candacebrooke.com
  2. I’ve published my website as instructed: A records with @ pointing to 88.198.22.168 and 136.243.5.208 respectively with CNAME with www pointing to website.sitehub.io
  3. I carefully made sure to select “SSL” in the sitejet domain mangement tool
  4. After 24+ hours, I am getting attached errorr messages of “clear your cookies” and “not secure” . . . i have of course tried clearing my cache several times.
  5. On checking DNS lookup tools as advised by Andre in Sitejet, I can see lots of green ticks for A records and lots of red crosses for CNAME. I have no idea what this actually means if you can’t already tell.
  6. Curiously, when I hover my cursor over the domain link in my Sitejet dashboard, a thumbnail of the designed site as it should be shows, but then on clicking it I end up with the dreaded error message.

I would be wildly grateful if anyone can help. Here is what I’ve done:

  • emailed Cloudflare support but theirresponse time is 5 days plus apparently
  • toggled DNS proxy off (they are now back on) for A records to see if it made a difference, it doesn’t
  • deleted any other DNS records (i did have SendinBlue connected for example) except for website and MX

Additional information:

  • My email hosting is with google, where I brought the domain from before transfering it over to Cloudflare recently (I can’t remember why) so I am not able to transfer the domain to Sitejet for 60 days apparently

here are the screenshots:

Hi!
I think your issue is similar to this one: DNS Domain Not Connecting - #2 by Lucian_Dinu

Just make sure that those Sitejet A records (similar for the CNAME) are not proxied (they are DNS only) in Cloudflare.
Basically, Sitejet can’t verify the settings because they are “hidden” by Cloudflare.

You have to wait for a few hours after you disabled the proxies (this is not instant).
Also, it will take a while (about 24 hours) for the SSL on the Sitejet side, so … until then, the https links will not work …

Hope this helps!
