How do I make a button a static anchor link?
Hey Lisa,
I am not quite sure if I understand exactly what you try to achieve. But maybe this helps?
- Create an anchor destination by adding a unique ID to the element you want to link to.
- Create a button element where you want the anchor link to appear[
- In the button’s link settings, add the anchor ID preceded by a hash symbol (#) in the URL or href attribute. For example, set the button’s link to
#section1
- If the anchor is on a different page, include the page URL before the anchor ID.
For example: /about-us#section1
[
Let me know if that helps.
From the customer: “a static link to the current pdf or whatever it is. Not to the page where the button exists.”
Which option would be best to use in this case?

Hey Lisa,
Well, that would be a simple button then and a link set to the button whereever the user wants it to point. Can be a PDF or any other side…or file
Sorry, for my late reply. I was on holidays last week.
Sorry I didn’t explain it correctly. The client wants a non-changing static link to a different PDF file each week (Sunday church bulletin) so the user doesn’t have to click on the website button to get there. I figured out how to do it through Google Drive. Thanks for your input anyway!
Ah! Okay, that is something different. I wonder how you did it with Google Drive though?
See attached. I send the original link to the client. When I want to change the file, I just click on File Information, Manage Versions, then Upload New Version. I also have to rename the file according to the date. It’s a few steps, but seems to work out for the client for now.

Oh wow, okay. Yeah that is a few steps. You might want to think about a url shortener with dynamic link updates for the future. There are some great tools to assist with that. Think bit.ly does that…
Oh and if you like - set a static link on the button and a redirect to the file. Or did you alread do that?
The one thing I would be worries about is that the content is provided by the PDF that get’s sent out which means the client might loose out on important content for his website and misses out on a great opportunity to build a nice newsletter.
Yeah, Bitly now charges for url shortner and client is not willing to pay. I did set at link to the button to the PDF file. I get what you mean about the newsletter. I’ll discuss it with the client.
Thanks for all your help and input!

Oh they do? Argh… I guess at some point all the good tools will have raised their costs
