I got the following error when I import a CSV file from Collection manager - import file: "Error on upload. There has been an error while uploading the file. Unsupported mime type: text/csv. " I tried different types of CSV, but none of them worked. I tried Google Sheets and installed it as CSV, but that one also not worked. I Will appreciate if anyone can help me to find way to import file.
Hey there,
Thanks for posting this. It is a bit difficult to help you directly with this, as per these guidelines I am missing some valuable information.
If you are using Sitejet Studio - I would recommend to to try the upload first on another website. This way, you can probably rule out an issue with the file itself…
Let me know if you get the issue as well.
@Sahbeymobilyam support making you jump through hoops, not very helpful!
Start here:
- It’s probably data related, check that you don’t have any symbols that don’t work in this context
- Try to import column headings only. Does that work? If yes then it’s not the CSV file type itself
- Try to import just a single column, if that works then you have a data issue in another column
- Try to import just a single row, if that works then you have a data issue in a later row
Your best option is to try import smaller batches until you can narrow down a line that is crashing your import. If you can find 1 glitch you can remove the rest and hopefully be able to import all at once in future
@Sahbeymobilyam and @Andre - I have the same issue. I have reworked my files every possible way. I have had chatgpt reconfigure all kinds of parameters in the file. My opinion, it should in no way be this difficult to import a simple data file with just a few columns and rows. I have used countless tools like this and this one is sadly the worst of them. In the end I have discovered the issue on my side is this:
I can import headings, and line 1 of my data. I reduced my data to a single column of names. I then reduced my data to a single row i.e. 1 name and the heading. Success! As soon as i add a 2nd line I get the error above. So this tool is looking for a specific instruction that the line has ended and a new line is beginning. Doesn’t matter what I try it always fails on line 2.
Other things I did:
Ensure UTF8 with no BOM
Remove all commas and special characters
Make sure columns matched number of delimiters in each row (all 2 of them!)
Saved via Notepad ++ rather than excel
Tried TXT and Json formats
As I say, importing 2 rows of a single column each should not be this hard. Probably I will just ditch this tool and go back to wordpress
Thank you for sharing your experiences in detail. I will follow your guidance; thank you.
I apologize for the guidelines, but I exported the file and changed the price of just one product. However, when I tried to reinstall it, it didn’t work. I even attempted to use the JSON format, but I encountered the same error message: “Error on upload. An error occurred while uploading the files. Please try again!” I would greatly appreciate any advice on alternative methods to change the product price from a table. Thank you.
Hey @Dalejsa and @Sahbeymobilyam, would you be able to send me a support ticket with the files attached? I would need the Website ID, the Collection name as well and a link to this post.
I will check this with a blank side from me and see if I find the reason for this
I have already opened a ticket (#95690042) and sent my request and ID. Thank you.
I see, Martin is on it.
