I have a client that wants a paywall feature on several pages of their website. What does everyone recommend?

There are a lot of solutions and ways to realize this. In my opinion, that kind of depends on what there is to offer and how “big” the user and the offer is.
So my initial thought was, what does the user want to offer? Content like videos, text, music? Educational seminars? Access to temporary content?
The users your client wants to pay, are these subscriptions based payments or one-time fees?
I am asking this, because all solutions can be different on costs, technical aspects and depending on the actual case, a simple solution without a fancy tool might also do it
In this case, it is text content- news stories to be exact. Fees would be either one time or subscription based. Thanks for offering any viable solutions.
