Meta Descriptions & Titles

Hey Sitejetters,

This one was brought up to me by our manager handling SEO performance on our hotels.
It seems that Google will take different Meta titles and descriptions to display on their front page. Take for example 2 different hotel clients we have:

Hotel Hafenresidenz

In this case, the meta titles and descriptions are taken from the actual H1 tag on the page and the description from the first paragraph below.

However, Hotel National is displaying the correct meta description, however, taking the Title of the page instead of the meta Title. (if that makes sense)

Something maybe Google has more control over than Sitejet?

Hi! The links that are displayed under your main search result (below the site title and description) are called “Sitelinks”.
These links are what Google believes are the most useful pages of your website.
This topic was a bit discussed here: How to get website pages in Google search result correctly

As a best practice, Google recommends to: “Make sure that the text you use as your page titles and in your headings is informative, relevant, and compact.”

You can read more about Sitelinks here: Présentation des liens sitelink | Google Search Central  |  Documentation  |  Google Developers

Hope this helps!
