Multi-language | Flag icons in menu bar or header

Just to be upfront: I am new to SiteJet and this is the first website I’m building, which is now getting a second language. I have no trouble adding the little flags to the site, but they don’t go into the header for some reason.

I can put it above - where it will always take up whitespace and only 2 little flags.
… or below, which isn’t practical, because I’d like users to notice the option to switch languages right away. The theme I’m using has a big parallax image right below the header which seems to be part of the header element. “Below” would mean below that title image, which might be even below the fold for some smaller screens. (see screenshot, the menu bar is persistent above the red dotted line, below starts the parallax image)

Is it possible to add the flag icons somewhere inside the header element, for example beside the menu or even below the menu with a transparent background? For a layperson like me it seems that the language container doesn’t want to go inside another container at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Place the flags in a container and this (with the CTRL key pressed) in the menu bar. For example, under the menu element. Then it will ‘throw’ everything over the top. But don’t worry: you just have to set the settings of the menu and the container with the flags (maybe the logo too, I’m not sure) to shrink (see screenshot). Then it should work.

What Barbara said

Hey there,

Can you let me know the Website ID? I like to test something, as there is a bug coming from certain browsers where nesting elements via the keyboard shortcuts might not work at the moment. We are currently fixing it though.

Thank you, this was actually very helpful. I didn’t even have to use the container-in-container trick, it worked directly too just by holding Ctrl.
I didn’t get it to sit beside the menu vertically, but like this is very acceptable too.

I tried the container-in-container trick too, now the flags do go beside the menu. I have options now!
