Random Suffix Issue with File Renaming in SiteJetBuilder (cPanel Integration)

Hello everyone,

I’m currently using SiteJetBuilder, which is part of the cPanel toolkit, and I’ve encountered a puzzling behavior. When I try to rename any file (whether it’s an older file already in the media gallery or a newly uploaded one), a large, random string is automatically appended to its name. Even if I manually remove the suffix, it reappears immediately with a different random value.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is this a new feature—perhaps related to caching, versioning, or file handling—or might it be a bug? Are there any settings or workarounds available to disable this behavior?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey there,

Thanks for mentioning this here.

Yes. That suffix has been set by default from our security team at WebPros as part of a security measure. We did get critical feedback about this “behavior” before from other Sitejetters.

The situation is being discussed internally and we hope to get the green light from the security team to make some adjustments to this to give the users more room for manoeuvre and decision making on this.

Thanks for the information. This point is really important, because now the site developer can’t control the file name in any way (it will always have a new name) and as a result any change in the site content, for example replacing one version of a PDF document or image with another, leads to the need for a long manual update of all links. Previously, it was enough to simply assign the old name to the new file
